Defect detection using Lamb waves¶
In this project the commercial FE analysis software Abaqus was used to study the interaction of Lamb waves with defects. The Lamb waves were generated using a Transverse Interdigitated Electrode piezoelectric actuator and the measured patterns were analyzed to asses the ability o fthis method in identifying defects and extracting data regarding their location and orientation.
Computer vision for fracture surface analysis¶
In this project, a convolutional neural network, ResNet18, was used to classify fracture surface images as being ductile or brittle. A small database consisting of 20 images of brittle fractures and 42 images of ductile fracture surfaces was used for this purpose. As such, a pre-trained network was used and fine tuned to classify the images.
